Behind the Scenes: Planning a Styled Wedding Shoot in a Barn

As a wedding planner, one of my favourite ways to showcase creativity is through styled wedding shoots. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to plan a styled shoot in a gorgeous barn venue, The Granary Wedding Barn, and I wanted to share how the day came together — from concept to final photos.

For this styled shoot, the goal was to showcase trends we know will be hot for the upcoming season. All of the suppliers involved were eager to create elements couples have been requesting — think mocha and coffee shades, and rich, textured details.

Concept & Vision

We wanted to produce something that not only highlighted each supplier’s talent but also served as inspiration for couples planning their weddings next summer. Every element — from florals to décor, fashion to stationery — was carefully curated to show what’s possible when creative minds come together. The shoot was designed to entice and inspire couples, giving them a glimpse of the luxury, style, and unique touches they could incorporate into their own celebrations.

Fashion & Styling

For the bridal look, Bellamme Bridal curated a stunning selection of gowns that embodied romance and elegance. Think delicate lace overlays, flowing skirts that moved effortlessly with every step, and even a blush-pink beauty to add a touch of modern whimsy. Each dress brought its own unique character, perfectly complementing the soft, ethereal mood of the shoot.

The hair was styled by the ever-talented Kerry from Halo Hair, who created two timeless looks – a half-up, curled style for a relaxed yet polished finish, and a beautifully undone French twist for brides who love a classic touch with a modern edge.

To complete the transformations, the magical Rachel from Rachel Bray Make-Up Artistry worked her artistry with two enchanting make-up looks: a radiant bronzed goddess glow that felt warm and sun-kissed, and a soft, romantic look with a gentle sweep of pink tones – delicate, fresh, and utterly bridal.

Décor & Styling

The barn’s natural beauty was our foundation, but décor elevated the space into something truly magical. Ruby from Ruby & Co used:

  • Round tables in a serpentine shape dressed with layered linens and soft textures

  • Seasonal florals in soft whites and deep orange roses were arranged in bud vases with a romantic garland to create a stunning drop to the jewelled arrangement. With glowing corners, enhanced by the warm glow of soft lamp lighting and flickering candles.

  • Rustic placemats, elegant charger plates, and a soft mocha napkin completed the table scape, adding warmth and texture to the overall look.

Every detail was chosen to complement the venue and create a warm, inviting atmosphere for both photos and real weddings.

Personal Touches

A styled shoot is the perfect opportunity to showcase small, personal details that make a wedding unique. For this shoot, we incorporated:

  • Custom stationery with soft, elegant typography by Happy Everly After

  • Bespoke veil wedding sign to create a textured cake table by Rebecca Anne Designs

  • Just Married cardigan, hand embroidered (and super soft!) by Threads of Love

  • Textured 4 tiered cake, some real talent in those textures, by Maras Messy Cakes

These touches added depth to the story we were telling and give real couples inspiration for how they could personalise their own weddings.

Content Galleries

Every detail of the day was beautifully documented by two incredibly talented photographers, Danny Inwood & Scott Niccolls, who captured not only the romance of each bridal look but also the finer touches of styling and atmosphere.

Alongside them, Yorkshire Wedding Content Creator Mia, a creative content creator worked seamlessly to bring the magic to life in motion, ensuring every fleeting moment and behind-the-scenes detail was preserved to share and relive.

The Feel of the Day

From the moment we arrived, the barn felt alive with passion and excitement to create some great content. It was a joy to see all the elements — fashion, décor, and personal touches — come together.

Styled shoots like this not only inspire couples, but also give suppliers a chance to collaborate creatively, producing imagery that feels fresh, personal, and timeless.
